Q: What is Healthy Hooves™?

A:  Healthy Hooves™ is a patented, triple buffered blend of acids that helps control the footbath to provide maximum availability of Copper Sulfate.

Q: How does Healthy Hooves™ work?

A: Healthy Hooves™ lowers the pH of the footbath which maintains a very high copper activity requiring less Copper Sulfate and slows the impact of manure on the life of the footbath.

Q: Is Healthy Hooves™ safe?

A: Yes, it is safe to animal and human skin and is only as corrosive as Coke or Pepsi. A similar formula is now being used in cosmetics for humans.

 Q: What is most important when using Healthy Hooves™?

A: Be consistent!  To be an effective preventative, Healthy Hooves™ must be used at a minimum of 3-5 times per week.

In the Initial Stage (typically the first 3 weeks), use 1 gallon of Healthy Hooves™ in 50 gallons of water plus 10 - 12 pounds of Copper Sulfate.  In the Managing Stage, continue with 1 gallon of Healthy Hooves™ with 5 - 7 pounds of Copper Sulfate.  See the Dairy Farm Footbath Worksheet for an outline of the Treatment Plan.

Q: How does Healthy Hooves™ help the farmer?

Q: Will Healthy Hooves™ pit concrete?

A: Yes, Healthy Hooves™, like all other acid-based products, will cause some degradation or pitting after prolonged use, but can be easily controlled with Healthy Hooves™ Acid Resistant Sealer.  Caution:  Do NOT use Formaldehyde with Acid Resistant Sealer.  Formaldehyde will degrade the sealer and leave the concrete unprotected.

Q: Can Healthy Hooves™ be used with Zinc Sulfate?

A: Yes, at the rate 1 gallon of Healthy Hooves™ with 10 pounds of zinc sulfate in a 50-gallon footbath.

Q: Can Healthy Hooves™ replace Formaldehyde?

A: 100% yes!  Formaldehyde is a suspected carcinogen--Healthy Hooves™ is completely safe to handle.  Formaldehyde can potentially ruin the aquifer on the farm—Healthy Hooves™ does not!!
